What's Next?

Well, you didn't think I was going to give you the whole thing for free, did you?

So now what? Well, as you might guess, Hannibal makes it through the Alps--though not without many more trials than what you've seen so far, all of them historically true, and not everybody you've come to know and love comes out in one piece. Naturally, when he comes down out of the Alps, he finds the Romans waiting for him--in the form of Scipio's father, with Scipio along for the ride. And, as you probably know, that's not the end of it either. How far into Italy will Hannibal make it? Will he conquer Rome? (I think we doubt that, don't you?) Will Vendorix ever catch up with his sons? Is young Aemilia Tertia doomed? And what's this young fellow Scipio all about? Remember that chat he had with Lucius and Marcus Livius on Tiber Island (hint: it's back in Chapter 2)? Remember the sugarplums dancing in his head at the end of Marcellus's triumph?

Hints abound all over this Web site.

You may have a while to wait, but rest assured that I'm out there trying hard to get the book published so you can pick up a copy at your local Barnes and Noble, Borders, Brentano's, Elliot Bay Books, Tattered Cover, Amazon.com, or whatever. Keep an eye on this site for news of my progress. (And if you know somebody in the fiction publishing business--agent, editor, etc.--you might scroll to the bottom of this page and shoot me an email. Help is gratefully encouraged.)

Bear with me, then, gentle readers.
